North Tahoe Serves Up A Full Plate This Holiday Weekend

Whether you want to hit the ski slopes, ice skate with family and friends, catch the game, or jumpstart your holiday shopping, North Tahoe will serve up a heaping helping of Thanksgiving activities this weekend.

Here is a look at the activities, events and recreation available in North Lake Tahoe this weekend:

• Skiing and Snowboarding
Four North Tahoe ski resorts will be open, offering skiers and snowboarders a variety of terrain at Northstar, Palisades Tahoe, Boreal Mountain Resort and Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe. Northstar is currently operating five chairlifts, and Mt. Rose and Boreal are offering terrain park features. Palisades Tahoe will open for the season on Wednesday, Nov. 26. New terrain and features are opening up as snowmaking and new snowfall allows.

• Ice Skating
The ice skating rink at the Northstar Village will be open and free between 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Ice skate rentals are available for $10 each. The ice rink, in the heart of the village, is strung with holiday lights and ringed by fire pits and comfortable chairs. The setting is a perfect place to get into the holiday spirit whether you want to skate for hours beneath the holiday lights or cozy up to a firepit with a drink and watch the rest of the family circle the rink.

• Catch A Game (Or Two)
For many, the highlight of the Thanksgiving weekend will be one or more of numerous football, basketball and other popular sports games. North Tahoe's numerous options for game viewing include:

• Live Music
The ‘Local’s Last Waltz’ with Jelly Bread and Friends is a live concert at the Crystal Bay Club that has become a favorite for both locals and visitors. The Saturday, Nov. 29 concert will feature some of the most popular tunes of 'The Band' performed by acclaimed local band Jelly Bread and friends. The rollicking holiday crowd and the funk-inflected jams of Jelly Bread make this a live concert to be thankful.

• Take In A Movie
The brand new, remodeled Tahoe Art Haus Cinema, at the Cobblestone Mall in Tahoe City, offers a complete mix of exciting feature films, independent and sports films and more. This week, catch the new blockbuster "Interstellar" or one of the classics, like "The Grinch".
