Wild Wind, Waves & Water Pound The Shores of North Lake Tahoe

The seemingly incessant series of winter storms that have rolled through the Sierra this January turned wet and wild for a few days in early February. On February 9th, after three days of rain, the winds and waves kicked up to new heights (7' waves on the lake were forecast).  During a jaunt along the North Shore, we captured this segment documenting the scene.

Tahoe Donner Opens for Winter Fun

Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Area will open its doors on Friday, Dec. 9 for the 2016-2017 season, joining Tahoe Donner’s three additional winter venues already open, including Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Area, Tahoe Donner Snowplay, and the Winter Golf Academy at Tahoe Donner Golf Course.

Five Squaw Valley Skiers Named to 2017 U.S. Alpine Ski Team

Five members of the Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows Ski Team have been named to the 2017 U.S. Alpine Ski Team, making Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows the most represented team in the country. Athletes names in today's announcement are Travis Ganong, Julia Mancuso, Bryce Bennett, Erik Avidsson and Keely Cashman.

Tahoe City Ice Rink Grand Opening Saturday

Olympic Gold Medalist and Chief Mountain Host of Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows, Jonny Moseley will lead the celebration at the grand opening of the new Tahoe City Ice Rink on Saturday, December 10th at the Tahoe City Winter Sports Park.

More Lifts, Terrain To Open at Squaw | Alpine

Following extensive snowmaking and ample recent snowfall, Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows is set to open more lifts and terrain on Friday, Dec. 2nd. Summit chair will open at Alpine Meadows for top-to-bottom skiing and riding, and at Squaw Valley, two additional upper mountain lifts are scheduled.
