Got Beer? Two Weekends, 3 Oktoberfests In Tahoe

Oktoberfest in the Village at Squaw Valley

The Village at Palisades Tahoe will hold its annual Oktoberfest celebration on Saturday, September 24th, followed by Tahoe City and South Lake Tahoe with their Oktoberfests the following weekend. All three events feature a host of brews, live music, dancing, games and good-time Tahoe revelry.

Squaw Village Oktoberfest - Sept. 24th
Well regarded as one of the "best events of the fall", the Village Oktoberfest, a benefit for the High Sierra Lacrosse Foundation, reigns as one of the favorites for locals and visitors. Crisp fall weather, combined with a myriad of beer selections, live music, and the winding streets of the Village, create a perfect ambiance to officially celebrate fall and turn thoughts towards winter.

“The annual Oktoberfest is one of our favorite festivals in the Village since it combines culture, great food and music, and fun and competitive games for all ages,” said Caroline Ross, executive director for the Squaw Village Neighbourhood Company. “People get really involved and dress to impress in their best Lederson and dirndl outfits. We love seeing the participation, especially since the proceeds from the event go towards benefitting the High Sierra Lacrosse Foundation, a fantastic local non-profit for student athletes in the local community.”

Popular German craft beers at the festival include Bitburger Premium Pils, Köstritzer Schwarzbier, and König Pilsener from Bitburger brewery plus Benediktiner Weissbier and Benediktiner Octoberfest from The Benediktiner Brewing Tradition. Other participating breweries include Out of Bounds Brewing, Yolo Brewing Co., Lagunitas Brewing Co., Drakes Brewing Co., Auburn Alehouse, Gordon Biersch Brewing Co., and WILDCIDE Hard Cider, among others. $10 includes a festival ½ liter mug and one beer. Additional beers are available for $5 each. Complementing craft brews will be a variety of bratwurst sausages, schnitzels and pretzels from local restaurants and vendors for festival goers to enjoy.

This year, as with every year, the event features traditional Bavarian Music and Folk Dancers, a Benefit Beer Garten, Brats & Kraut, and games from 2 to 6pm. All entertainment at the event is free and the beer proceeds benefit the High Sierra Lacross Foundation.
