WARREN'S WORLD: Golfing Under Water

I had made the arrangements to play a month ago with two busy people. Since both of them are good golfers, I felt I could learn something if I hacked my way around 18 holes with them. What I learned is that the more I play golf, the dumber I am, especially when I play in the rain.

Opening Day: A Fun-Filled Weekend May 22-25

Summer officially kicks off in North Lake Tahoe Memorial Day Weekend with the 3rd Annual Opening Day at the Lake. This four-day special event begins Friday, May 22 and runs through Monday, May 25.

Silver ore was discovered in 1859 under what is now the city. $400,000,000 in silver and gold was taken from the Comstock mines over the following 20 years. Much of the growth of Nevada and San Francisco was triggered by the wealth generated by the discovery. And the wood timbers that braced the deep, deep mine shafts came mostly from the Lake Tahoe Basin via Glenbrook and Carson City.
