Lodge-to-Lodge Kayak Tours Offer Comfortable Adventure

Kayaking is a popular Tahoe summer and fall activity, but most kayak trips are short morning or evening excursions along a section of Tahoe's shoreline. This fall, Tahoe Adventure Company has created a new way to experience kayaking on Lake Tahoe - a multi-day kayaking tour that includes lodging each evening at a waterfront hotel.

”After months of planning, we are excited to launch the first multi-day, lodge-based kayak trip on Lake Tahoe," says Kevin Hickey, owner of Tahoe Adventure Company. "It’s the perfect way to experience the shoreline of the lake while staying at some of Tahoe’s best hotels and eating at fine restaurants.”

Fall in Lake Tahoe treats visitors to warm sunny days and calm water, and is  without the hustle and bustle of summer crowds. Each expedition starts at Meek's Bay, on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe and follows the Lake Tahoe Water Trail route to the North Shore, with overnight stops at Sunnyside Resort, just south of Tahoe City, Mourelatos Lakeshore Resort in Tahoe Vista, and the Hyatt Lake Tahoe in Incline Village (see lodging videos below). The trip ends at Sand Harbor on the East Shore, in Nevada.

On the first morning, a professional guide will provide comprehensive instruction on your gear, paddling technique, and self rescues. After breakfast, each day's trip starts early for idyllic weather, best wildlife viewing, mountain serenity and to allow plenty of time to reach the evening's destination. Each day is comfortably planned with approximately 7-10 miles of kayaking between stops.

Along the shoreline, you'll enjoy the glassy, clear waters, spectacular views,  local wildlife and learn about the unique natural and human history of the Tahoe region. By afternoon, you'll arrive at your lakefront hotel for a hot shower, warm meal, and some well-deserved relaxation. You can choose to take a massage, a walk along the beach, or simply relax by the pool or on the water's edge as the sun sets. Evenings are enjoyed with delicious meals at terrific local restaurants with great company, and a good night's sleep before the next morning's adventure.

The four-day kayak adventures are geared for beginner and intermediate kayakers and include all kayak gear and instruction, professional guide, delicious meals (lunch on day 1 through lunch on day 4), and lodging each night at a lakefront hotel. Snacks and shuttles are also provided.

Falll 2009 Trip Dates are September 24-27 and October 1-4. Group trips on other dates are available by special arrangement. Space is limited and advance reservations are required.
