Separating Fact from Fiction

Biofuels have received significant government subsidies and private investment over the last five years with the promise of reducing our dependence on foreign oil and also reducing carbon dioxide emissions.  However there is another side to the story that questions the economics, the environmental impact and the competition between corn for ethanol and corn for food.

Join us on August 10th to get an objective overview and understand the pro's and con's of producing Biofuels from a panel of local residents who have spent the last few months conducting research on this topic, and who are prepared to share their findings so that others can become better informed on the critical energy issues that are facing our country.

The Palisades Tahoe Institute is proud to be the sole sponsor of the Biofuels Panel, led by Bob Moore; it is the third in our series on energy alternatives (prior topics were solar and nuclear energy).
