Grooming Gear for XC Trails at Sugar Pine Pt.

Dave Antonucci discovered the 45-year old trails in the late 1990s. He did research and found that they were not old logging roads, as first suspected, but the 60km of trails actually used by Olympians. After the Olympics the trails were restored to their natural conditions or, in some cases, covered over by subdivisions.

Wine Tasting in Truckee

Featured wines at the tasting included Sutton Cellars' popular 2004 Rose, its 2003 Chardonnay, two 2003 Pinot Noirs, and a 2003 Syrah. Sutton also poured his 2003 Zinfandel and a 1997 Carignane for lucky enthusiasts tasting late on Saturday evening.

When an East Wind Blows across Tahoe: Rime

What causes east winds? A high-pressure (dense) pool of cold air settles in over the Great Basin, which is east and north of Lake Tahoe. When there is a low-pressure area over Southern California, it sucks the dry, heavy, cold air from the Great Basin down into the southland. (Air moves from high-pressure areas to lower-pressure areas.)

Inspired Film, Daydreams, Turns 30 Years Old

Daydreams was shot and edited during the winter of 1974-75 by North Shore resident, Craig Beck. Thirty years later it remains the last, un-forked pea on the plate of American ski-film making--a rare inspiration.
