The Shah of Iran had flown to Sun Valley to ski with ski school director, Otto Lang. Accompanying the Shah was an entire airplane load of people. This included, but was not limited to, servants, cooks, porters, food tasters, equipment and luggage handlers, interpreters, and sixteen bodyguards.

New Ice Bar opens at High Camp, Squaw Valley

It took 15 workers 4 days (in storm conditions) to construct the latest addition to the fun in the High Sierra. The bar was opened officially in the last few days just in time to celebrate eight feet of fresh, delicious, new snow.

COMMUNITY AWARDS: TAHOE TV is top Small Business of 2008

Over 200 local and regional businesses were in attendance at the gala event, which celebrates the contributions of local businesses and individuals to the North Lake Tahoe region over the previous year. Peter Brandt, Tahoe TV's Network Manager and Creative Director, accepted the top small business award.

Before the invention of the freeway, Reno was a six or eight hour trip on a narrow two-lane road. I had to drive through and stop at every stop sign or red light in downtown Oakland, Berkeley, Richmond, Vallejo, Fairfield, Dixon, Sacramento and Auburn, as well as all of the smaller towns in between.

More beer sales will boost the economy some, of course, but, instead, I think some of the millions of dollars for TV boxes should be spent on ski equipment. The trickle-down effect would be much greater than that of beer.
