It is a long wandering and a mighty challenge!

The Reno-Tahoe Odyssey is a relay run ideally suited for 12-person teams competing on a 178 mile course that is divided into 36 legs of varying lengths and difficulty. Continuous running, starting one day and ending the next, until each runner has completed 3 legs. The course begins and ends at 4490 feet elevation and climbs over 2800 feet as runners pass rivers, streams and mountain lakes, including the one and only Lake Tahoe.

The race begins Friday morning so plan to arrive in Reno by Thursday night.  It is a staggered start with waves of teams starting every 15 to 30 minutes. The slower seeded teams begin around  9 a.m. and the faster seeded teams will begin in the afternoon. Exact start times will be announced a month prior to the event.

Teams start in downtown Reno and head West along the Truckee River before climbing the Sierra Nevada guided by its high mountain peaks, then along the shores of beautiful Lake Tahoe.  Running under the stars and past the neon of South Lake Tahoe's casinos, participants descend Kingsbury Grade onto Carson Valley. There's another climb up the Comstock Highway into Virginia City, before dropping down Geiger Grade and through the high desert back to where it all began in downtown Reno.
