Local Tahoe writer and photographer Nicole Dreon, who also works in the research department for ESPN and the X Games, made her first trip to Africa in 1995 and has been back a total of six times. Her most recent mission was to capture the lives of African women athletes on film.

Her presentation will show a different side of Africa than the one typically portrayed in the media. It offers a glimpse into the everyday life of women athletes in three different countries at varying levels of athletics. From world-class runners in Kenya to semi-pro boxers in Uganda to aspiring soccer players in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the audience will see African women as strong first and victims second.
