Meet at 9AM at Gatekeeper’s and bring your lunch for this intermediate hike with historian Paul Ackerman. We will carpool to the Moraine Trail trailhead on Fallen Leaf Lake Road and take a roundtrip hike of about 3 miles along the east and north shores of Fallen Leaf Lake. Along the way we will discuss the discovery and settling of Fallen Leaf Lake, along with the construction of the dam on Taylor Creek. We will visit the remains of Cathedral Park, built in 1921 and visit the ruins of the Anita Baldwin estate on the north shore and have a bag lunch there. It is a great place for picture taking. There are wonderful lake views from her old boat house. We will then proceed to a spot in the forest where stands the remains of some of her caretaker quarters.
