WHO: Collector car enthusiasts.
 
WHAT:  Will celebrate the first ever National Collector Car Appreciation Day at the National Automobile Museum

WHERE:  At the National Automobile Museum, 10 S. Lake St. in downtown Reno.

WHEN:  Friday, July 9th

WHY:  The U.S. Senate okayed National Collector Car Appreciation Day to acknowledge America’s love affair with the car and motorsports. Hobbyists were thrilled when the Senate resolution passed. This is the first year the special day will be celebrated.

HOW:  Two for one admission at the award-winning National Automobile Museum to see all displays and special exhibits including “WWI Gets Motorized” and “Motoring Tourist: National Park Adventure” from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Local car clubs will participate in a show and shine in the Museum parking lot on the corner of Lake and Mill Streets from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A special 1 p.m. showing of the acclaimed film, “Paving the Way: The National Park-to-Park Highway.”  The documentary describes the building of the 5,000-mile scenic loop through 11 western states, connecting 12 national parks which helped us become a nation of campers.


Costumed characters will bring history to life at Museum exhibits from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  A “Park Ranger” will be at “The Motoring Tourist” exhibit, “Henry Ford” will be near one of his early cars and a “Race Car Driver” will be sharing insights into his popular sport.
