VIDEO: 2014 Snowfest! Preview

North Lake Tahoe celebrates the winter season during the annual Snowfest, a 10-day carnival and one of the region’s most popular annual family celebrations. The 2014 Snowfest is scheduled for February 28 through March 9 with numerous events at a variety of venues throughout North Lake Tahoe.

In its 33rd year, SnowFest, presented by the North Lake Tahoe Chamber/CVB/ Resort Association, is expected to draw thousands of attendees, with the majority of events free to spectators. This year's Snowfest theme is "Bringing Back the 80's". Some of the signature events include:

  • The Opening Night Ceremonies, Laser Show, Torchlight Parade and Fireworks at Palisades Tahoe (Feb 28)
  • The Snowfest 80's Dance Party featuring 'Tainted Love' (Feb 28)
  • The annual Tahoe City Snowfest Parades in Tahoe City and Kings Beach (March 1 and March 8 respectively)
  • The 25th Annual Gar Woods Polar Bear Swim in Tahoe’s frigid waters (Mar 1)
  • Rahlves’ Banzai Tour at Palisades Tahoe (March 1-2) and at Alpine Meadows (March 8-9)
  • Sunnyside's annual Luau (March 2)
  • Jake’s Mardi Gras on the Lake Party (March 3)
  • The Annual Snow Sculpture Contest at Tahoe City’s River Ranch Lodge (March 9)
  • The Ta-Hoe Nalu Arctic Standup Paddleboard Race in Kings Beach (March 9).
