Summer Concerts Return to Homewood
Homewood Mountain Resort will host 'Homewood Days' August 16th and 17th with a free outdoor concert featuring 'New Monsoon' and a multi-event summer activities mountainside festival.
HOMEWOOD, Calif. (July 31, 2013) – Homewood Mountain Resort is back on the map as the West Shore’s signature outdoor music venue. New Monsoon will play a free outdoor show on August 17th as the headliner for Homewood Days, a festival full of summer activities that will be a classic Tahoe weekend packed with friends and fun.
After seven years without summer music, Homewood has jumped back on the bandwagon and is making the most of its exceptional natural amphitheater. On August 17, New Monsoon will play on a stage facing the mountain, with music-goers sitting on the grassy hill, which provides a full unobstructed view of both the stage and Lake Tahoe. There is no other outdoor venue like it.
“We want to give back to the community we call home," explains Homewood Event Coordinator Briitni Kern. "Our goal is to combine fun, family and friends and tie it in with the natural beauty that is Tahoe’s West Shore, and there is no better way to do that than with live music and an array of outdoor summer activities.”
Lonesome Locomotive will open for New Monsoon and music will begin at 4pm. Wild Mountain Honey, a popular West Shore duo, will play live on Friday, August 16, from 5 – 8pm at The Grill at Homewood as part of the kickoff party for Homewood Days events.
Leading up to the concert, Saturday kicks off bright and early with a free Vinyasa yoga class at 9 am on the lakefront lawn of the West Shore Café. Right after yoga class, Homewood will host a free guided paddleboard demo tour along the shoreline of Lake Tahoe. Paddleboarders can either take a break after the tour or grab the kids and head to the mountainside for a Bear League presentation and an exciting meet and greet with a porcupine. Local historian Mark McLaughlin will also be presenting “Tahoe Stories, Facts, and Fun” at 1pm right after the Bear League.
Homewood will also host Tahoe’s only single-day cornhole tournament at noon on Saturday. The Grill will be serving up both food and drink specials during the competition. Kids will also find fun times playing on the bounce house or getting their faces painted by Giggle and Grin Face and Body Art.
The complete Homewood Days activity schedule can be found at www.skihomewood.com/homewooddays. Most activities are free; however some will include a nominal fee to enter.
