Northstar Plans Full Operations This Weekend
From a News Release issued on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012...
TRUCKEE, Calif. – Dec. 12, 2012 – Nearly a foot of fresh snow overnight and cold temperatures over the past week are allowing Northstar to open 125 additional acres on eight new intermediate and advanced trails over the course of the weekend, offering guests the opportunity to ski top-to-bottom, front-to-back for the first time this season.
“The Backside is one of the most popular areas of advanced terrain at Northstar, featuring mile-long runs with a sustained pitch that are really fun to ski and ride,” said Bill Rock, chief operating officer at Northstar. “Our guests are going to be thrilled with the current conditions and snow quality thanks to the snowfall we’ve received, coupled with our continued snowmaking efforts. And, with more snow in the forecast, we’ll continue to open more terrain as quickly as we can.”
With the scheduled opening of these trails, Northstar will have 44 of 97 beginner, intermediate and advanced trails open, accessed by eight lifts. Three of Northstar’s award-winning terrain parks are also open with more than 40 features.
On Thursday, December 13, the second in the series of Northstar’s festive Noel Nights will take place in the Village at Northstar from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. featuring pictures with Santa, complimentary holiday cupcake decorating, ice skating, complimentary one horse sleigh rides, face painting, holiday craft making and ornament painting, performances by the great Basin Carolers and the North Tahoe High School Jazz Band, and much more. Over the weekend, guests will be treated to live music performances in the Village at Northstar by Angele and the Wildwood Band, Ike & Martin and Jeff Jones.
Those looking for the lowest guaranteed price on lift tickets should purchase at least three days in advance online at www.northstarcalifornia.com/tickets or through Vail Resorts Central Reservations. With the 3-Day Advance ticket, skiers and riders can save up to 25 percent vs. the window rate.
Lodging packages are available, with the 3-2-1 Countdown to December package featuring three nights of lodging, two days of skiing/riding per person, and a $50 resort gift card. This offer is valid daily from December 1-24, 2012 and starts at $89 per person, per night. Some restrictions apply.
The resort will also celebrate its 40th anniversary on Saturday, December 22, with a party hosted by Northstar team athlete, Shaun White. With activities for the whole family throughout the day, including a Burton Snowboard Academy Kids Clinic with Shaun, live music both on the mountain and in the Village at Northstar, a sparkling toast and s’mores in the village, 70’s costume contest and après party at Tavern 6330’, there’s an opportunity for guests of all ages to celebrate.
