Celebrate The Tahoe Rim Trail On National Trails Day
Join the Tahoe Rim Trail Association for American Hiking Society’s 20th annual National Trails Day® event! Come celebrate the start of our trail season by volunteering to build trail or by joining us for a guided hike around the new Van Sickle Bi-State Park. The event begins at Van Sickle CA/NV Bi-State Park off Lake Parkway in Stateline, NV. To participate, register online at www.tahoerimtrail.org or contact Lindsey at 775-298-0239 trails@tahoerimtrail.org.
Volunteer trail work: 9am – 4pm, Van Sickle Park
Enjoy free coffee donated by Starbucks, then help the TRTA build trail for the first time this season! Volunteers of all skill levels and physical abilities are welcome and encouraged to participate—no prior experience necessary. Volunteers will receive free lunch provided by REI and the TRTA. The event will conclude at 4:00pm with a volunteer party at Explore Tahoe including free food and drink. This event opens the fourth trail-building season of a multi-year project, which will connect the Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT) with Van Sickle State Park, re-route the TRT off paved roads, and provide stunning views of Lake Tahoe to more people. This workday is a great way to give back to your community and meet other trail enthusiasts. Volunteers must wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants, boots, and work gloves; bring sunscreen, bug spray, water and a backpack. The Tahoe Rim Trail Association will provide hard hats, trail building tools and crew leaders.
Full Moon Hike: 7pm – 9pm, Van Sickle State Park (Sunday, June 3)
Please join us during the National Trails Day weekend for our first ever full moon hike at Van Sickle State Park! Experience the peace, tranquility and beauty of the Van Sickle State Park at dusk. Expect a casually paced hike for all ages, while slowing down to enjoy the flora, fauna and to explore with your nighttime senses. This free event is for TRTA Members only. Please visit our website to learn more about becoming a member or to register.
