First Stop of Rahlves Banzai Tour Postponed

Daron Rahlves announced Tuesday that due to less-than-optimal conditions, the first stop of the 2012 Rahlves Banzai Tour, the Beaver Bowl Banzai scheduled for February 4th and 5th at Alpine Meadows, has been postponed.

Rahlves did a complete review of the course on Tuesday with Alpine Meadows' Race Director and Ski Patrol to assess the situation.

"The snow accumulations from this last storm weren't enough to cover rocks, trees and willow groves in the line of the course," said Rahlves. "With no significant storm activity in the near future, there are no other options."

The event will still take place, however. Alpine Meadows has confirmed a backup event date of February 23-24, a Thursday and Friday.

Rahlves did confirm that at this time the next tour stop, the Eagle Bowl Banzai at Kirkwood, is still on for February 11-12.

In spite of the setback, Rahlves, who is personally organizing and producing the tour, remained upbeat, saying "I will do everything I can to make this tour a success and hope mother nature lends us a hand."
