North Lake Tahoe Update: Nov 15

The following report is produced and distributed regularly by the North Lake Tahoe Visitors Bureaus, the Incline Village Crystal Bay Visitors Bureau and the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association.

It’s going to be beautiful this week, with clear and sunny skies and a high temperature of 51 degrees. A chance of snow is forecast for this weekend with temperatures dropping to 19 degrees at night – perfect snowmaking conditions for North Tahoe ski resorts.

Resorts and Towns’ Update:
A stream restoration project at Lake Forest Meadows, just outside of Tahoe City, is reaping environmental benefits. Those meandering the shores just may catch a glimpse of a kokanee salmon run in the lower reaches of the creek.

Join the Tahoe Rim Trail Association, the Tahoe Institute for Natural Science and the Space Science for Schools Thursday, November 17, 7-9 p.m., to learn from knowledgeable guides about that evening’s Leonids Meteor Shower. Participants must register for this free, family event at www.TahoeRimTrail.org. Upon registration, attendees will receive directions to the trailhead, event location.
 
Alpenglow Sports kicks off their 4th Annual Winter Film Series Thursday, November 17, 7 p.m., at Sawtooth Ridge Café in Tahoe City with local resident Dave Nettle, who will tell stories and provide images from his most recent trip to the remote granite walls in the heart of Central Asia. This event is free.
 
They Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe hosts the Gordon Biersch Beer Dinner Friday, November 18, 6 p.m., at Cutthroats Saloon when chefs Wade Eybel and Jeremy Willken pair a five-course dinner with selected craft beers from the Gordon Biersch Brewing Company. Cost is $59/person.
 
On the West Shore, the Tahoe Maritime Museum hosts a Fall Open House and “GarWood’s Tahoe Legacy” exhibit Saturday, November 19, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with guests taking part in a boat simulator and educational children’s activities.
 
The four-diamond Resort at Squaw Creek in Olympic Valley kicks off their popular holiday program, “Magical Memories,” Thursday, November 24, family-oriented events, that runs through January 8, 2012. Events include the Gingerbread Village Unveiling, Grand Tree Lightening, appearance by Olympic gold medalist and ski movie star Jonny Moseley, breakfast with Santa, caroling, ice carving demonstration, moonlight snowshoe tours and more.
 
Mark your calendar for the Holiday Jazz Festival, Friday, November 25 and Saturday, November 26 at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Spa and Casino in Incline Village. Guests can enjoy a complete Thanksgiving weekend along with spectacular jazz performances. Reserved seating is $65/person.


Getting Around:
The North Lake Tahoe Express daily airport shuttle service is available to and from North Lake Tahoe and the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. The shuttle runs from 3:30 a.m. until midnight. Fees are $40 per person, one-way, and $75 round trip. Discounts are available for groups of two or more. Reservations are required and can be made four hours in advance.

The North Lake Tahoe Recreation Update is part of a partnership between the North Lake Tahoe Visitors Bureaus, the Incline Village Crystal Bay Visitors Bureau and the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association. The combined efforts of both entities are aimed to further promote North Lake Tahoe as a premier, year-round destination.
