For one weekend each summer, The Village at Palisades Tahoe USA becomes one of the funkiest places around Lake Tahoe during the 9th Annual Brews, Jazz & Funk Fest on Saturday, August 14 and Sunday, August 15. Event Includes cold brews, top-notch musicians, and kids’ activities.

Some of the most recognized jazz, blues and funk favorites of this era perform at the event, which takes place in the main Village Plaza from 2 to 8 p.m. each day. Fans enjoy continuous live music on two stages in a spectacular setting at the base of the mountain while sampling offerings of more than 20 breweries, including hard-to-find micro and macrobrews.

Music fans will gather to appreciate two days of concerts by top-notch artists playing against a backdrop of majestic scenery. While listening to the entertainment from well-known national musicians as well as local and regional favorites, attendees can taste selections from breweries such as Full Sail, New Belgium, Deschutes, Rouge, Lagunitas, Mammoth, Lake Tahoe Brewing, Fat Tire, Fox Barrel, Samuel Adams, Stone, and Primator. Kids also are welcome at the event, which will feature Sky Jump Bungee Trampolines, 18-holes of Miniature Golf, Palisades Tahoe's new Zip Line, and a Climbing Wall and Ropes course.

Admission is $5 and beers are $4. Proceeds from the event benefit the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe. The line-up of performers includes:
 
Saturday, August 14
2 p.m.: The New York City band Soulive, one of the most sought after instrumental soul-funk trios around, takes to the stage. The group has toured the US and the globe, playing in Africa, Japan, Russia, and Brazil and has recorded with Chaka Khan and Dave Matthews. Their versatility is evident in the fact they opened for the Rolling Stones on one tour and had Stevie Wonder sit in with them on the next. The group’s latest recording is the LP Up Here, featuring infectious hooks, tight horn arrangements and an “old school” style that feels like vintage vinyl.

4 p.m.: Garaj Mahal treats audiences to a convergence of jazz-style improvisation, mystical Middle-Eastern atmospheres, and danceable American funk. The four musicians in the band combine a century of musical experience to create a sound that's always new and freshly infused with a wide spectrum of musical expression. Jambands  described the Garaj Mahal experience as, "This is music that attracts both musicians and dancefloor denizens–complex and inventive at its core, with a ‘shut up and listen’ booty-moving exterior."

6 p.m.: The 6-piece, North Carolina-based, Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band will get Brews, Jazz and Funk Fest audiences dancing to the sound of the band’s triumphant horns, laid-back grooves, and heavy backbeats. Colorful costumes and interactive stage personalities make Booty Band’s shows as entertaining to watch as they are to listen to.
 
Sunday, August 15
2 p.m.: The Rebirth Brass Band, a New Orleans institution, kicks off the second day of the festival. Formed in 1983 by the now infamous Frazier brothers, the band has evolved from playing the streets of the French Quarter to playing festivals and stages all over the world.  The group is committed to upholding the tradition of brass bands while at the same time incorporating modern music into their show.  Their signature brand of heavy funk has won over several generations of music lovers.

4 p.m.: The Pimps of Joytime will provide an unforgettable experience for festival audiences. The band's diverse sound and spirited attitude is strongly influenced by the Brooklyn DJ culture and live music scene from which they emerged. Recent collaborations with legendary artists Cyril and Art Neville of the Neville Brothers and Roy Ayers have helped vitalize the band's connection to its roots. Over the past four years, The Pimps have evolved into a road-tested and audience-approved groove machine. The exponential growth of the band's fan base can be partially attributed to the band’s artful blend of musical styles, including elements of afrobeat, salsa, rock and roll and electronica.

6 p.m.: Funky Miracle closes out the Brews, Jazz and Funk Fest with their New Orleans-style grooves.
