Palisades Tahoe USA Adds New VP of Marketing & Sales
[From Palisades Tahoe Ski Corp News Release - Aug 10, 2010] Palisades Tahoe USA is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Clarkson to the newly-created position of Vice President of Marketing and Sales. Clarkson will be responsible for resort marketing and sales at Palisades Tahoe Ski Corporation to include The Village at Palisades Tahoe USA and Palisades Tahoe Central Reservations. Clarkson will join the Palisades Tahoe team this September and will report to Livak and to CEO Andy Wirth.
Clarkson brings 25 years of experience in mountain resort marketing and sales, with a proven ability to enhance the guest experience, increase skier visits, and develop a resort’s brand while growing both revenues and skier visits.
“We look forward to the experience and expertise that Scott will bring to our mission. We are in an exciting period of opportunity and Scott’s marketing capabilities will be an invaluable asset as we move forward” said Mike Livak.
Clarkson comes to Palisades Tahoe USA from Okemo Mountain Resort in Vermont, where he most recently held the position of Vice President of Marketing and was a member of the executive team. Clarkson’s career at Okemo began in 1995, where he advanced from Director of Marketing throughout his tenure with the resort operating company.
As a member of Okemo’s executive team, Clarkson has developed marketing plans and promotions for all aspects of the winter operation including real estate, resort lodging, culinary and ski and ride school. He has recently been working toward increasing summer business for the resort through the development of creative packaging and supporting events at Okemo’s Jackson Gore Village.
“Palisades Tahoe USA is a world class mountain with incredible terrain and an intimate alpine village at its base. I am very excited to be a part of the team to transform a legendary mountain into a legendary mountain resort. With the acquisition of the Village at Palisades Tahoe USA last January, the mountain resort experience can now be unified and promoted as a complete vacation destination that appeals to families and to skiers and snowboarders of all abilities,” said Scott Clarkson.
In 1998 Clarkson worked with the executive team from Okemo on their successful proposal to commercially operate New Hampshire’s Mount Sunapee Resort on public lands, and in 2004 he helped Triple Peaks, LLC with the acquisition of Crested Butte Mountain Resort, Colorado. Among other functions Clarkson facilitated a team approach to develop Triple Peaks strategic partnerships and design a new line-up of season pass products for the resort company.
Clarkson earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Lyndon State College in Vermont and attended The Whittemore School of Business at the University of New Hampshire. In 1997, Clarkson and his team won the “Best Overall Marketing Campaign” from the National Ski Areas Association in the 500,000+ skier visit category. Clarkson was also active in the Okemo Valley community serving on various boards to promote youth sports.
Clarkson’s family includes his wife Martha, and their two sons Jamie, a sophomore at University of Colorado at Boulder and Parker, a senior at Burr & Burton Academy in Manchester, Vermont. All are avid skiers and outdoor enthusiasts.
