Girls On The Run Launches Spring Season
The Tahoe-Truckee chapter of Girls on the Run Sierras launches its spring season on March 22 with events at nine different locations.
Although snow still blankets the ground, Girls on the Run Sierras has got spring fever in anticipation of another great season. The Tahoe-Truckee program, which combines training for a 5K (3.1 mile) running event with healthy living education, launches its spring season on March 22 at nine different locations.
The popular program instills self-esteem and strong values through health education, life skills development, mentoring relationships, and physical training - all of which are accomplished through an active collaboration with girls and their parents, schools, volunteers, staff, and the community. Girls on the Run - Sierras is an Independent Council of Girls on the Run International, which has a network of over 160 locations across the United States and Canada.
Girls on the Run – Sierras programs are scheduled at Glenshire Elementary School, Truckee Elementary School, Truckee Community Recreation Center, Alder Creek Middle School Kings Beach Boys & Girls Club, Tahoe City Rideout Center – both Elementary & Middle School programs, Incline Elementary School and Lake Tahoe School. - Girls on the Run, 3rd, 4th & 5th grade girls only; March 22 - June 2 Mondays & Wednesdays, after school.
- Girls on Track, 6th, 7th & 8th grade girls only; March 23 -June 3 every Tuesdays and Thursdays, after school.
Volunteer For GOTR
Girls On The Run – Sierras depends on a robust network of caring volunteers. Coaches are needed for the new season at Truckee Parks & Recreation Center, Alder Creek Middle School, Kings Beach Boys & Girls Club, Tahoe Lake Elementary School, North Tahoe Middle School and Lake Tahoe School.
