Weather Outlook: More Snow

Snow will continue Sunday around the Tahoe region, heavy at times early, then taper off to snow showers Sunday afternoon and evening. We'll have a bit of a break on Monday, then more snow possible mid-week.

The NWS has issued the following Winter Storm Warning.

...WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM PST THIS AFTERNOON...

THE WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 4PM PST THIS AFTERNOON.

* TIMING: MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW WILL CONTINUE THIS MORNING BEFORE TAPERING TO SNOW SHOWERS THIS AFTERNOON.

* ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: 2 TO 6 INCHES AT LAKE LEVEL TODAY WITH 6 TO 12 INCHES ABOVE 7000 FEET. THIS WILL BRING TOTAL STORM ACCUMULATIONS TO 1 TO 2 FEET AT LAKE LEVEL WITH 2 TO 4 FEET ABOVE 7000 FEET.

* WINDS: SOUTHWEST 10 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 35 MPH BELOW THE RIDGES. GUSTS TO 65 MPH OVER THE SIERRA RIDGES MAINLY DURING THE MORNING.

* DANGEROUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS WILL AFFECT INTERSTATE 80... HIGHWAYS 28...50...88 AND 89 THROUGH THE DAY. TRAVEL DELAYS AND PERIODIC ROAD CLOSURES ARE POSSIBLE.

Tahoe City/Lake Tahoe Short Term Forecast

Sunday: Snow showers, mainly before 4pm. High near 37. Breezy, with a southwest wind between 15 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Sunday Night: Scattered snow showers, mainly before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. West wind between 5 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Monday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38. Southwest wind between 5 and 10 mph.
