Sunny, clear skies midweek will turn to clouds and snow again later this week, first with a couple of weaker systems on Thursday, followed by another stronger system into the weekend. Things will warm up a bit however. Overnight lows will rise into the 20's, with highs in the mid to upper 30's into the weekend. The NWS has issued the following Special Weather Statement.

...COLD AND ACTIVE WINTER WEATHER PATTERN TO CONTINUE THROUGH THIS WEEKEND...

A VERY COLD AIR MASS WILL REMAIN OVER EASTERN CALIFORNIA AND WESTERN NEVADA THROUGH THURSDAY. TEMPERATURES IN THE VALLEYS WILL DROP TO NEAR OR BELOW ZERO ACROSS THE REGION AGAIN WEDNESDAY NIGHT...WITH DAYTIME TEMPERATURES REMAINING BELOW FREEZING EVEN IN LOWER ELEVATIONS.

A COUPLE OF WEAK SYSTEM WILL MOVE THROUGH THE REGION THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY...BRINGING LIGHT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS TO THE SIERRA AND PORTIONS OF WESTERN NEVADA. SLICK ROADS AND DIFFICULT DRIVING CONDITIONS ARE POSSIBLE FOR THE FRIDAY MORNING COMMUTE.

HOWEVER...THE MAIN STORM OF CONCERN WILL ARRIVE FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY. AT THIS TIME...SOME UNCERTAINTY REMAINS FOR SNOW LEVELS WHICH WOULD AFFECT CONDITIONS IN THE LOWER ELEVATIONS...BUT SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL WILL BE POSSIBLE IN THE SIERRA THROUGH THIS WEEKEND.
