Tahoe Time Update: A Toast to Tahoe Skiing - Nov 7

For the second year in a row, the Palisades Tahoe Institute's 'Toast to Tahoe Skiing' brought high-energy and local spirit to the Resort at Squaw Creek. On Saturday, November 7th, the Toast to Tahoe Skiing held true to its name and reputation, attracting over 300 to the Resort at Squaw Creek for a jam-packed evening of 'fun, food, fashion, and flair'.

From the start, the scene was set with an exquisite display of culinary delights from the Resort at Squaw Creek's top chefs, including salmon en croûte, weiner schnitzel, and cheese fondue.

Tahoe TV was a proud sponsor of the event, and Tahoe TV founder and host Eric T., as the evening's Master of Ceremonies, got things going with the introduction of his high school band mate, and the evening's keynote speaker, Mark Wellman.

After an overview of Tahoe's ski resort history by local author and historian, Mark McLaughlin, the flair section of the evening began. The winter fashion show, coordinated and hosted by Squaw Creek Sports, Palisades Tahoe Sport Shop, Sports Tahoe and Double Diamond Jewelry, featured the latest in winter wear modeled by some of Tahoe's celebrated athletes and notables, including freeskiing Champion Tim Dutton, freeskiing pioneer Kent Kreitler, ski champion Tamara McKinney, 1964 Olympian Starr Walton, big mountain ski star Ingrid Backstrom, Olympic hopeful and Jamaican Ski Team phenom Errol Kerr, and many more.

Following a live auction of such sought after items as a "early up" with Palisades Tahoe Ski Patrol, the evening's 'toast' component was aptly served with a heartfelt toast to Shane McConkey by two of his closest friends, Robb and Scott Gaffney.

As icing on the cake, things concluded with a 'sneak preview' of the new Lake Tahoe segment that opens the latest Warren Miller ski movie.
