Winter Olympics '06: Five Locals in Torino. Report #4, Gold Fever
Marco did so well considering his last few years of rehab. He was so close to qualifying. We were all sad...but joyous at the same time because he did so well.Tomorrow (Sunday) is the BIG day. Daron Rahlves is so poised to win the gold. It is the talk of the town. He looks perfect. We all have the gold fever. Our three "course slippers" are rarin' to go, too. Same with our two volunteer, race time recorders, Susan and Ann.
Opening Ceremony
Last night we watched the opening at the "USA House" which is located in an Irish Pub. As you walk in, there is a huge photo of Julia Mancuso; then one of Daron; and then one of Caroline Lalive. We all loved Pavoratti singing. We'll party there again tonight in preparation for the downhill tomorrow. Bib numbers for the competitors will be drawn this evening in the center of Setriere's medals square. The energy and vibrations are increasing as the moon grows fuller. --By Banfields, Holbrook, and Rouses
