Pfeifer House
The Pfeifer House is one of the oldest restaurants at Lake Tahoe. It is also one of its finest. It was established in 1939 as the Lake Inn and it became known as the Pfeifer House in 1954 when Hermann Schaeffer and Lois Pfeifer purchased the restaurant.
In 1972, Franz Fassbender, a culinary Gold Medal winner, bought the well known dinner house - a Tahoe landmark! He started as a young chef in Germany and came to the United States in the early 1960's.
Today, he has successfully instilled the culinary traditions of Old World charm and atmosphere. Franz prepares all their food fresh daily to provide special treats for everyone.
The Pfeifer House is unique and very popular for both families and banquets (with facilities up to 45 persons).
It was the site of the 1982 movie "Forbidden Love" with Yvette Mimieux and Andrew Stevens.
