Young Blues Talent Opens Bluesdays Aug. 5

19-year-old blues phenom Matthew Curry will open the show for Aug. 5’s free Bluesdays concert at Palisades Tahoe. In what is expected to be a very special performance, Matthew Curry will open for soul sensation Nikki Hill.

Hailing from Normal, Illinois, Matthew Curry is capturing the attention of established acts and fans across the country, touring with the Steve Miller Band, the Doobie Brothers and Peter Frampton. Curry opened for the Steve Miller Band and Journey in South Lake Tahoe on July 30 and will also be playing at the Crystal Bay Club on Aug. 6.

Curry’s guitar skills are so strong that Peter Frampton gave him kudos on his Facebook page, noting “I must also mention Matthew Curry who is opening for us on these dates. He wowed us all!! I see a big future for Matthew. Someone asked me in an interview today if I thought there could be any more guitar heros. Well, hell yes of course and Matthew is one who will prove that to be true.”

Bluesdays brings free concerts by some of the country’s best blues acts to The Village at Palisades Tahoe every Tuesday (6-8:30 p.m.) through August 26. The weekly festival features some of the most applauded musical talent from all over the country including Grammy nominated musician Mark Hummel, Billboard Top 100 artist Paul Thorn, and internationally touring “powerhouse” performer Nikki Hill (playing Aug. 5).

In addition to the live concerts in The Village, guests can also sample delicious “Blue Plate" food specials like sushi, gyros or pizza, and kick back with a cold brew, glass of wine or cocktail from the Blues Bar. Village shops and boutiques will offer Bluesdays shopping specials for those looking to scoop up some of the best deals of summer, and Palisades Tahoe offers Aerial Tram and activity discounts every Tuesday before the concerts.
