Water Shuttle Service Begins June 27

The North Lake Tahoe Chamber/CVB/Resort Association in partnership with the Truckee/North Tahoe Transportation Management Association and the Tahoe Transportation District is set to launch the summer season for the North Lake Tahoe Water Shuttle, with service from June 27th through September 22nd.

Dock hopping on the new North Lake Tahoe Water Shuttle will get you out on the lake and to your favorite restaurants, shopping, bike trails, museums, parks, farmers markets and other recreational activities and attractions in minutes. The vessel carries 12 passengers, the crew and up to eight bikes.

North Lake Tahoe Water ShuttleFive Docking Locations This Year
Following a successful pilot season last summer, the shuttle, the first of its kind in nearly 75 years, will expand its service to include five locations this year. The shuttle will pick and drop off multiple times daily from:

  • Captain Jon's - Tahoe Vista
  • Gar Woods Grill & Pier - Carnelian Bay
  • Tahoe City Marina - Tahoe City
  • West Shore Café- Homewood
  • Obexer's Marina - Homewood

All of the docking locations offer convenience and easy access as well as numerous attractions, including dining, shopping, events, and more. For a map and schedule, click here.

Reduced Pricing, Extended Hours
Feedback from last summer’s short trial period has resulted in several changes this summer. The prices have been cut in half, and operating hours have been extended to allow for dinner trips and star gazing on the Lake. The Captain/Crew can also now accept credit/debit cards on the boat, or reservations can be made on-line at www.NorthLakeTahoeWaterShuttle.com or by calling 530-581-8707. Reservations are recommended.

Split The Trip - Bike or Bus One Way
The Water Shuttle has dedicated 8 bike racks, allowing users to ride their bike to a dock location and then take the shuttle back to where they started, or take the shuttle first, and bike back.

Users can also take public transit to the dock of choice; hop on the Water Shuttle and experience a great way of getting to lunch, dinner, shopping or recreational activities. Public transportation on TART and Night Rider Buses run by all of the Water Shuttle stops. The new Emerald Bay Trolley will serve the West Shore into Tahoe City Transit Center. The Night Rider services start at 6:30 PM and run until 2:00 AM for extended transit opportunities for visitors, locals and employees.

The shuttle is also a real winner for the environment. The goal of the operation is to reduce traffic, save fuel, and expand transportation service for those traveling across the region while greatly enhancing the North Lake Tahoe visitor experience. Going carless helps reduce traffic congestion, parking challenges and is more fun than driving. And, you can view the beautiful scenery from the lake and relax getting to your destinations.
