VIDEO: Tahoe Cup Summer Race Series Continues

The 2014 ONeill Tahoe Cup summer race series continues with its second event, the ‘Jam From The Dam’, on Saturday, July 12th, taking competitors on a 6-mile dash along Lake Tahoe’s North Shore from Tahoe City to Carnelian Bay. Watch Tahoe TV's coverage video from the 2013 event (above).

The Jam From The Dam is the second event in the O’Neill Tahoe Cup, a three-event series with a combined $20,000 prize purse, and attracts hundreds of competitors of all ability levels from near and far, from recreational paddlers to elite racers.

Open to both prone and standup paddlers of all abilities, the race will start at 9am on Commons Beach. Hundreds of participants, including world-renowned paddleboard athletes and local recreational paddlers will make a bee-line from Tahoe City around Dollar Point, then on to Carnelian Bay to the finish at Waterman’s Landing adjacent to Sierra Boat Company.

The start area at Commons Beach and the finish at Waterman’s Landing are open to spectators. The finish area, always a festive atmosphere, will include free SUP demos following the race.

In addition, after the race, Waterman’s Landing will host the 4th Annual Rob Rojas Keike Challenge, a free-to-participate standup paddlboard race for kids under age 11. Participants must provide their gear, including an approved PFD (Personal Floatation Device) and complete a liability release signed by a parent or guardian.

The Tahoe Cup race series, presented by O’Neill and hosted by the Lake Tahoe Paddleboard Association (LTPA), features three events throughout the summer - the Donner Lake race on May 24th, the Jam From the Dam on July 12th, and the Tahoe Fall Classic on September 14th.
