Truckee Follies Ready to Shock April 21-14

Politically incorrect, lewd and crude, offensive and absolutely hilarious — hmmn, sounds like the Truckee Follies are right around the corner! Many tawdry transgressions, while addressing local issues in Follies style, will most definitely be committed this year at the infamous event, slated for April 21-24 at Truckee's Old Rec Center on Church Street.

The irreverent revue's theme this year is “Truckee-Boom or Bust?” taking its cue from the current down economy. And rest assured, nothing is sacred at this truly Truckee event, or as it has been said of the Follies: “It is an equal opportunity offender.”

The work horses behind the scenes contributing to the uproarious success of the production are Cliff Hartwell as Follies producer “Emeritus,” Stefanie Olivieri as Follies producer “in training,” and Debbie Cole as Follies director. There are many local writers who come up with the clever and comical lines of each skit and song, some of whom are Richard Anderson, Maia Schneider, Dave Gravell, Paul Raymore, Jim Duffy, Ted Owens, Patti Florian and Mitch Clarin.

The Follies are the main fundraiser for the TDMA with funds being used for the beautification of downtown Truckee, children's holiday events and Christmas decorations, Truckee Thursdays and for TTHS student scholarships as well.

Tickets are still available, but they are selling steadily. Tickets are only available at Cabona's in downtown Truckee or by calling 587-3161.
