Truckee Follies Coming to Town

This year's theme is TruckeeVision, but as usual the Follies will make fun of all things Truckee. "It's like a high end, X-rated Montey Python," says regular participant and Truckee architect Matt Rusanoff.

"It's a great way for local artists to show their talent and for us to laugh at ourselves while acknowledging what's going on politically."

Money raised from the show will go to four $1,000 scholarships geared toward business & the arts and to the beautification of Historic Downtown Truckee.

Here is the Follies standard song, sung to the tune of "Hello, Dolly."
Hello Truckee, Well, Hello Truckee
It's so good to be back here where we belong
You look so swell Truckee
Full of hell, Truckee
You're still glowing, you're still growing
You're still going strong.

How To Join in the Fun
Those interested in acting, singing, dancing, writing, waiting tables, building sets, being stage hands, etc. can contact Mitch Clarin at Blue Sky 587-0493 or mitchc@BlueSkyHC.com or Bonnie York at 582-6025 byorksierrasun.com. Auditions and casting will be held for the next three Wednesdays (except 3/22) at 10115 S. River St from 6-9 p.m. No acting experience is required, but writer Paquita Bath warns participants "need to be unafraid to say outrageous things."

Community Collaborative of Tahoe Truckee coordinator, Sarah Green, say it has always seemed to her that "to be in the Follies is to be a part of Truckee, the epitome of being a local."

She says she was drawn to being in the Follies this year for the first time because of how much fun the cast and crew were having.

Local business people can buy ad space in the program; their businesses will be bawdily satirized. The "Truckee Guide" is being handled by Donna Wood. She can be reached at the White Buffalo 582-9518.

Tickets go on sale April 1st at Cabona's on Donner Pass Road. Front row seats are often sold out buy 7:30 am. There is a 10 ticket maximum per purchaser.
