Truckee 4th of July Parade Entry Deadline Extended

With the extended winter, the 4th of July has taken everyone a bit by surprise! In less than two weeks, the crowds will line the streets in anticipation of Truckee’s popular 4th of July Parade. The Parade Committee is putting the final touches on the parade details, and encourages anyone planning to enter to get your entry in quickly! To accommodate everyone, we have extended the deadline as late as possible until noon on Tuesday June 28th.

Truckee's July 4th parade begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Truckee High School Track parking lot and progresses 1-1/2 miles down Donner Pass Road into historic Truckee, ending around noon.

Parade dignitaries include the Citizens of the Year Laura Mohen of Truckee Physical Therapy, and Jim Porter of Porter-Simon Law Firm who will join Grand Marshalls Lisa Dobey and Debbie Cole by travelling the parade route in the legendary Wells Fargo stagecoach. The stagecoach is a true symbol of American history and a parade favorite.

Parade entry fee is still just $50. Deadline for entering is near and must be submitted by noon, Tuesday June 28th.

Sponsorships are available to help support this hometown tradition. Sponsors to date include: Rotary Club of Truckee, Soroptimist International of Truckee Donner, Truckee Downtown Merchants Association, Lahontan Golf Club, Tahoe Donner Association, Martis Camp, Dickson Realty Truckee Tahoe-The Schaller Family, Mountain Hardware & Sports, Resort at Squaw Creek, Sierra Sun, Truckee Tahoe Airport District, Tahoe Oral Surgery Implant Center, Tahoe Forest Hospital District, Alison Bermant Attorney, Sugar Bowl, Truckee-Tahoe Pet Lodge, Truckee Physical Therapy, and The McConnell Family.

And making lemonade out of lemons…. when the Amgen Tour of California had to relocate the start of Stage two, Truckee was left with an “unclaimed” King of the Mousehole jersey. So, before the parade gets started, the Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce will be holding a Truckee Bike Sprint challenge on the same course, but in the opposite direction, of the famous Firecracker Mile. There will be a random draw of registered riders for the the coveted “unclaimed” King of the Mousehole jersey. The Truckee Bike Sprint will begin downtown at 9:30am. Riders will start at 15-20 second intervals. All ages and abilities are welcome, road, mountain or cruisers allowed. The fastest man and woman will each receive Tahoe Amgen Tour of California merchandise plus a $250 donation will be made in their name to Breakaway from Cancer. The first 45 registered riders will receive a Breakaway from Cancer ballcap and bracelet.

Immediately following the Truckee Bike Sprint will be the always popular Firecracker Mile. For more information on both races, visit www.truckeefunrun.com.
