Tahoe Winter Sports Legends Honored
Several Lake Tahoe area winter sports luminaries were honored and inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame at a gala event held by the Reno Tahoe Winter Games Coalition on Friday, January 6th.
A fundraising event for the Reno Tahoe Winter Games Coalition, who's mission is to have "Reno Tahoe selected as the next North American region to host the Olympic Winter Games", the Hall of Fame Dinner Gala honored a host of Tahoe area winter sports athletes and influential people, including:
Alex Cushing - Ski Pioneer and Co-Founder of Palisades Tahoe.
Wayne Poulsen - Ski Pioneer and Co-Founder of Palisades Tahoe.
Franz Weber - Olympian, World Speed-skiing Champion.
Tamara McKinney - Olympian, World Cup Alpine Ski Racer.
Daron Rahlves - Olympian, World Cup Alpine Ski Racer.
Shane McConkey - Extreme Skiing Legend, Ski Designer, Visionary
Also honored at the event was Lynette Davis, longtime girls basketball coach and now Athletic Director at Elko High School.
The festivities and presentations were emceed by another Olympian and skiing notable, Jonny Moseley.
The lavish event, held at the Atlantis Resort & Casino, which had been postponed due to cancellation as a result of the Reno fires in November, had over 500 supporters in attendance and included a silent auction and dinner.
