Palisades Tahoe Festival Celebrates Art, Wine and Music

The 9th Annual Palisades Tahoe Art, Wine and Music Festival, coming to the Village at Palisades Tahoe July 17-18, combines exquisite artwork, fine wines and internationally acclaimed music acts in a location that itself is as pretty as a picture.

Now in its ninth year, the festival has become one of the summer's most popular events. Held in the picturesque setting of the Village at Palisades Tahoe, nestled in an alpine valley where wildflowers add splashes of color to meadows and snow-frosted peaks rest against the canvas of the sky, the festival features a variety of talented artists and craft persons, musicians and performers as well as an exciting selection of wineries.

From 2 to 5 p.m., wine lovers can sample offerings from 15 wineries, including Robert Stemmler Winery, which offers vintages made exclusively with estate-grown grapes from The Donum Estate known for its exquisite Pinot Noirs and Ferguson Block in Carneros and the Nugent Vineyard in California’s Russian River Valley. Other featured wineries include Gold Note, Lone Buffalo Vineyards, Perry Creek Winery, Moniz, Holly's Hill Vineyards, Crocker & Starr Wines, Bridesmaid Winery, Three Families, Dogwood Cellars, Adobe Road Winery, Expression Wine, Mount Aukum, Oliver Hill Wines, and Bechard Vineyards.

While tasting the wine, visitors can admire the fine art exhibition featuring more than 30 artists as well as enter a raffle.

To add to the festive atmosphere, Oscar Reynolds will entertain festival goers on both days from 1 to 5 p.m. Celebrating a career of over 40 years in music, Bolivian-born artist Oscar Reynolds has recently received honors from the Bolivian government under Evo Morales' administration for his lifetime achievement in music and dedication in developing, performing, and promoting Bolivian music in Bolivia and around the world. A leading advocate of Bolivian music, he also received the prestigious Arts Recognition Award in 2008 from the Arts & Culture Commission of Contra Costa County for his significant contributions in preserving, promoting, and educating U.S. audiences on the traditional arts of Bolivia. Reynolds is an accomplished composer, internationally-acclaimed Andean flute master, guitarist, flute-maker, recording engineer, and lawyer from the Andes Mountains of La Paz, perhaps best recognized for playing the Bolivian pan flutes and guitar simultaneously.

North Lake Tahoe’s Groove Foundry also will perform from 2 to 5 p.m. on both days on the main Village stage.

The event caters to kids as well with an 18-hole miniature golf course, sky jump bungee, new Zip Line, plus swimming, skating, Paintball, and hiking at High Camp.

Entrance to the festival is free. Wine tasting is $25 and includes a commemorative festival wine glass. All proceeds benefit Disabled Sports USA Far West.
