Sparks Hometowne Farmer's Market Kicks Off Summer Season June 10

The Sparks Hometowne Farmer's Market brings a warm community vibe and great food, fun and entertainment to Victorian Square every Thursday through summer.

The Market leads off the summer event season on Thursday, June 10, on Victorian Square between Pyramid & 11th streets.

This year's market schedule features ten different Thursday theme nights, which run from June 10 - August 19.  The only off day during that stretch will be August 5th during the Hot August Nights week. The market will run from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm each Thursday.

The Hometowne Farmer's Market is produced by the City of Sparks to be a safe, clean, and very family-oriented environment showcasing fruits and vegetables from some of the finest growers in the region, a tasty variety of international food and beverage items, unique arts and crafts, assorted flowers, community group involvement, and exciting stage music and street performers.

"We look forward to another wonderful series of Farmer's Market event days," commented Greg von Schottenstein, City of Sparks Special Events Supervisor.  "Guests are invited to shop for a variety of high quality produce, enjoy our 5th annual MAGIC on the MIC competition and sample culinary treats from The Chef Joe Show, hosted by market resident chef Joe Eidem, and listen/dance to a great line-up of entertainment playing on the Great Basin Stage".

Going Green
The City of Sparks has teamed up with Waste Management to go green by placing yellow bins throughout the event for the public to utilize for recyclables number 1 & 2's (plastic bottles).  In addition, Waste Management will supply two (2) 4-yard dumpsters for the event participants to recycle their cardboard boxes.  The public is asked not to toss trash in either the bins or dumpsters.

Free Shuttle
The City of Sparks has also teamed up with the Legends at Sparks Marina to provide a complimentary shuttle service from Legends to a drop off point adjacent to the farmer's market.  To utilize this free and convenient service, attendees can park in the Legends parking lots and access the shuttle at the stop located between The Gap and Banana Republic.  The shuttle will begin transporting guests at 4:30 p.m. on approximately the half hour, and the last shuttle will depart from C Street near Victorian Avenue back to Legends at 9:30 p.m.

As is customary, attendees are asked not to bring any glass containers, alcohol, or pets to the event.
