The Predog Bowl – a Snowskate Shredfest at Homewood Resort on Lake Tahoe
Tahoe City, California, February 23, 2013 – Predog Snowskate presents the first annual Predog Bowl on Thursday February 28th at Homewood Resort. A “tossed salad” of riders, cultures, and companies sharing their passion for snowskating, the Predog Bowl brings together for the first time an exciting international crew of skaters, filmmakers, publishers, and skatemakers for a dynamic shredfest/jam session open to the public.
Snowskating is arguably the biggest thing in snowsports since snowboarding emerged 20+ years ago. Once seen as a fad only suited to terrain park tricks, the art of skiing on a skateboard (or skating on a ski) has recently been embraced by nearly all major US resorts (and many international ones), with Homewood being one of the early epicenters and steadfast supporters of the sport. Fast becoming a mainstream sport with an ardent global following, snowskating has its own Facebook fan sites, competitions, superstars, manufacturers and movie makers.
Snowskaters of all levels – and those who are simply curious – are invited to Homewood Resort on Thursday February 28th to join in or just watch the action! The Predog Bowl will include a morning all-mountain session and afternoon park sessions, giving the public multiple chances to meet, greet, and ride with the following confirmed participants:
Jim Spiers – event host and founder of Predog Snowskate (www.predog.com) – a former skier, snowboarder, and telemarker who found bliss (and endless obsession) in freeing his toes.
Sean Davis – perennial snowskate champion and owner of Strapless Entertainment (http://www.skateboardonsnow.com/Strapless_Entertainment/STRAPLESS.html), a Tahoe-based snowskate film company that has been producing snowskate films for nearly a decade.
Mike Steinhauser – French-born, Switzerland-based founder of 0910 Snowskates (http://www.0910snowskate.com/), host of the European Snowskate Jam, and rider for Predog & 0910. Mike has been riding binding-free since 2002.
Scott Ewen – born in Ballater, Scotland and living in Munich, Germany, founder and publisher of Newborn Snowskates Magazine (http://www.newbornsnowskates.com/). Scott discovered snowskating while working as a lifty at Glenshee ski resort in Scotland and never looked back.
Mathilda Spiers – high school student, Predog rider, and frequent women’s snowskate champion. Mathilda began snowskating at the age of 9, and - fresh off the plane from a semester abroad in France – she will be attending the event thoroughly jetlagged!
