Scarecrow Sprint and Stroll & Oktoberfest Oct. 5

The popular SnowFest! Scarecrow Sprint and Stroll, a benefit fundraiser for the upcoming 2014 Snowfest! will return to the Commons Beach on Saturday, October 5 beginning at 11:00 am.

The Sprint and Stroll is fun run for all ages with four different races. Small children will be able to participate with a run around the Commons playground. Youth will run from Commons Beach to Christy Hill and back, or can participate with the adults in a 5k or 10k run on the Tahoe City Trail featuring fall colors, great views of the Lake and the surrounding area.

SnowFest! is encouraging runners to get their Halloween spirit on with costumed teams of friends, families, co-workers or non-profit organizations to participate in this zany, fun, autumn event.  Awards will be presented to race winners in each category and for the best costumes. Additionally, SnowFest! will host a Pumpkin Patch, sponsored by Save Mart, providing an opportunity for you to pick out your pumpkin early this year while the children romp on the Commons Beach playground.

Following the Scarecrow Sprint and Stroll, at 1:00 pm, the Cobblestone will host its annual Oktoberfest with activities for the entire family. Enjoy a live rock ‘n roll dance, a selection of seasonal brews, BBQ sausages and hot dogs, fresh-made fruit desserts and ice cream along with fun games and crafts for kids of all ages.

The Scarecrow Sprint and Stroll is a fundraiser for one of Tahoe’s hallmark events, SnowFest!, a 10-day winter carnival featuring over 60 events including parades, fireworks, a polar bear swim, the Great Ski Race, snow sculpting, a dog pull and so much more. Dates for SnowFest! 2014 are February 28 through March 9.
