Brand-New Crow’s Peak Chairlift One of Three New Lifts Expected to Open for the Weekend at Sugar Bowl Resort

DONNER SUMMIT, Calif. (Feb. 13, 2014) — Sugar Bowl Resort plans to operate its new Crow’s Peak chairlift for the first time ever on Friday, opening up new lift-served glades, chutes and groomed runs on Crow’s Peak to skiers and riders.

Sugar Bowl installed the $3-million chairlift last summer to expand the Donner Summit resort’s terrain, and offer nearly 1,000 vertical feet of new fall-line skiing down to the edge of Van Norden Meadow. The resort now offers a total of 1,650 acres of ski terrain across four mountain peaks.

In addition to Crow’s Peak Chairlift, Sugar Bowl intends to open the Mt. Judah chairlift and the Summit chairlift for the weekend. The resort has scheduled a total of 10 chairlifts for operation throughout the weekend, giving skiers and riders access to all of the resort’s four peaks. The resort has also re-opened the Coldstream Terrain Park with 15 features for freestyle skiers and snowboarders.

Royal Gorge Cross Country, North America’s largest cross country resort, is also expanding groomed trails and operations, and has opened the Bogus Basin and Point Mariah ski loops. The resort is operated by Sugar Bowl, and currently has 40 trails groomed and open. Lift tickets, rentals and lessons are available at Royal Gorge’s Summit Station Lodge.
