North Lake Tahoe Update: Oct 31 - Nov 6

It's transition time this week with calm and mild weather set to turn to winter Thursday and into the weekend. Holiday planning and seasonal events and activities prevail.

The following report is produced and distributed regularly by the North Lake Tahoe Visitors Bureaus, the Incline Village Crystal Bay Visitors Bureau and the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association.

It’s a mixed bag this week in terms of weather with sunny and clear skies turning to a chance of snow Thursday afternoon and through the weekend.

Resorts and Towns’ Update:
Palisades Tahoe announces details of the resort’s new SnoVentures center featuring expanded activities for kids and families, such as new mini snowmobiles specifically for kids, dog sledding, horse-drawn sleigh rides, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and enhanced snow tubing.

Arts for the Schools presents a modern take on the famed performance West Side Story with “Manhattan” featuring BARE Contemporary Dance Company Friday, November 4, 7 p.m., at Truckee High School Theater in Truckee. Tickets are $15/adult and $5/child.
 
The Tahoe Safe Alliance and Project MANA host the 23rd Annual Chocolate, Wine & Roses Festival Saturday, November 5, 7-10 p.m., at The Chateau at Incline Village. Dress the part of this “Rat Pack Reunion” while enjoying hearty appetizers, chocolate creations by top restaurants and boutique wine tasting. Tickets are $75/person.
 
Alpenglow Sports has partnered with Telemark Skier Magazine to sponsor the Lake Tahoe premier of the telemark-specific, nationally acclaimed ski film “Loyalty” Saturday, November 5, 7:30 p.m., at Sawtooth Ridge Café, with early-bird dinner specials for attendees, in Tahoe City.
 
On the West Shore, the Tahoe City Parks & Recreation Department is hosting their annual Holiday Craft Bazaar Saturday, November 5, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Rideout Community Center. This is a perfect opportunity to purchase holiday presents and wares crafted by local residents. This event is free.
 
One of Tahoe’s best cross county ski swaps, the 11th Annual Tahoe XC Ski Swap, is scheduled for Saturday, November 12, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Tahoe Cross Country in Tahoe City. Get there early to get the best deals on skate, touring, backcountry and snowshoe equipment, plus kids’ gear.
 
Granlibakken Lodge hosts the annual Lake Tahoe Women’s Wellness Weekend November 12-13 by integrating Western practices with Eastern philosophy. Medical doctors, health experts and fitness instructors come together to present inspiration, information and activities. Registration is $99/person.
 
Mark your calendar for the Holiday Jazz Festival, Friday, November 25 and Saturday, November 26 at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Spa and Casino in Incline Village. Guests can enjoy a complete Thanksgiving weekend along with spectacular jazz performances. Reserved seating is $65/person.

Getting Around:
The North Lake Tahoe Express daily airport shuttle service is available to and from North Lake Tahoe and the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. The shuttle runs from 3:30 a.m. until midnight. Fees are $40 per person, one-way, and $75 round trip. Discounts are available for groups of two or more. Reservations are required and can be made four hours in advance.

The North Lake Tahoe Recreation Update is part of a partnership between the North Lake Tahoe Visitors Bureaus, the Incline Village Crystal Bay Visitors Bureau and the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association. The combined efforts of both entities are aimed to further promote North Lake Tahoe as a premier, year-round destination.
