North Lake Tahoe Update: Oct 24-31
It’s going to be another gorgeous week in North Lake Tahoe with clear and sunny skies and crisp fall temperatures. The event calendar continues unfettered as we head into November.
The following report is produced and distributed regularly by the North Lake Tahoe Visitors Bureaus, the Incline Village Crystal Bay Visitors Bureau and the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association.

Sunny, clear skies and beautiful fall weather all week in North Lake Tahoe, with highs in the upper 60s. Fall activities continue with many haunting attractions.
Resorts and Towns’ Update:
Fall foliage is upon us. The aspens have officially turned their brilliant yellow, making for a striking contrast against the forest greens. Head out via foot, bike or car and take in all that is fall in Tahoe.
Alpenglow Sports in Tahoe City has partnered with Liberty Mountain and Pieps Avalanche Beacons to offer a free avalanche safety class Tuesday, October 25, 6:30 p.m. The 3-hour seminar will include an indoor and outdoor component, including education and field testing, and will help attendees better understand avalanche beacon function and the advancements of these tools.
The Trail of Treats and Terror takes place Thursday, October 27, 5-8 p.m., when kids follow the trail via a shuttle to Incline Village Halloween fun sites, starting at the Parasol Graveyard Gala, then the Pumpkin Photos and Ghoulish Games at the Incline Village Recreation Center, the Dark Theatre at Lake Tahoe School and Haunted Halls at Sierra Nevada College.
In Truckee, the Cedar House Sport Hotel sweetens up the night on Thursday, October 27, 5 p.m., with the screening of “Queen of the Sun,” words from John Miller (a fourth generation beekeeper), as well as a honey tasting. Cost is $10/person, plus $1 dollar online service fee. There is a cash bar.
Tahoe City is home to the Halloween Freak Fest Friday, October 28, 9 a.m., when The “Barmuda” Triangle (Jake’s On the Lake, Hacienda del Lago and Lakeside Pizza) hosting a dance party along with costume contest, live music, drink specials and prizes.
Pull out your best costume for the Creeper’s Ball at the Crystal Bay Club Casino in the historic Crystal Bay casino corridor Saturday, October 29, 10 p.m., with live music from Big 80’s band, Tainted Love.
Run off all the Halloween candy with the New Balance Girls On the Run 5K and 10K Halloween Fun Run Sunday, October 30, 8:30 a.m., at the Truckee River View Sports Park. The course follows the scenic Truckee River Legacy Trail, and costumes are encouraged. There will be a post-race BBQ.
The Tahoe Safe Alliance and Project MANA present the 23rd Annual Chocolate, Wine & Roses Festival Saturday, November 5, 7-10 p.m., at The Chateau at Incline Village. Dress the part of this “Rat Pack Reunion” while enjoying hearty appetizers, chocolate creations by top restaurants and boutique wine tasting. Tickets are $75/person.
Mark your calendar for one of Tahoe’s best cross county ski swaps, the 11th Annual Tahoe XC Ski Swap scheduled for Saturday, November 12, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Tahoe Cross Country in Tahoe City. Get there early to get the best deals on skate, touring, backcountry and snowshoe equipment, plus kids’ gear.
Granlibakken Lodge hosts the annual Lake Tahoe Women’s Wellness Weekend November 12-13 by integrating Western practices with Eastern philosophy. Medical doctors, health experts and fitness instructors come together to present inspiration, information and activities. Registration is $99/person.
Getting Around:
The North Lake Tahoe Express daily airport shuttle service is available to and from North Lake Tahoe and the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. The shuttle runs from 3:30 a.m. until midnight. Fees are $40 per person, one-way, and $75 round trip. Discounts are available for groups of two or more. Reservations are required and can be made four hours in advance.
The North Lake Tahoe Recreation Update is part of a partnership between the North Lake Tahoe Visitors Bureaus, the Incline Village Crystal Bay Visitors Bureau and the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association. The combined efforts of both entities are aimed to further promote North Lake Tahoe as a premier, year-round destination.
