Homewood Opens Sledding Hill for Weekend

While the wait for a full-scale visit from Mother Nature continues, Homewood Mountain Resort is eager to provide a fun experience for Thanksgiving visitors and has announced the opening of a base area snow play area for the Thanksgiving weekend.

From Nov. 27 News Release...

Homewood will offer sledding Thanksgiving Day through Dec. 1

HOMEWOOD, Calif. (Nov. 27, 2013) – Homewood Mountain Resort is excited to offer families the opportunity to come sledding on man-made snow at the North Lodge starting Thanksgiving Day through Sunday, Dec. 1.

Homewood’s snowmaking crew has been busy running the snow guns at the North Lodge base area whenever temperatures have allowed for snowmaking to occur. As a result, the North base has a great sledding hill for kids of all ages (and adults with an adventurous spirit).

Homewood’s snow play area will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting Thanksgiving Day through Sunday, Dec. 1, and sled rentals will be available on site. Guests are welcome to bring their own soft plastic sleds for use in the snow play area as well; however, sleds with metal pieces or hard edges will not be allowed.

Homewood will open its Homewood Mountain Sports retail outlet to holiday shoppers over the long weekend, and will also offer hot chocolate and a selection of snacks at the new Smokehouse Grill outside at the North Lodge.

Homewood will continue to make snow whenever conditions allow, with the goal of opening for skiing and snowboarding as soon as possible. Currently, Homewood is scheduled to open for skiing and snowboarding on Dec. 13, weather and conditions permitting.
