Commemorative Town Photograph Scheduled for Sept. 1

Tahoe City's 150th Anniversary celebration over Labor Day weekend will include the taking of an official commemorative town photograph at Commons Beach on Sunday, Sept. 1st.

The town photograph is part of the weekend's numerous events celebrating Tahoe City's 150th anniversary. The photograph will be taken on Sunday, Sept. 1st at approximately 4 PM, in order to take advantage of the expected attendance at the Sunday events which include the popular free concerts on Commons Beach.

"The entire community is invited to join in for this very special occasion," said Eric Brandt, of Tahoe TV, organizers of the photograph. "It's a chance to create a community portrait that future generations of North Tahoe residents will look back at."

The Concerts on Commons Beach, held every Sunday throughout summer, are known to draw a crowd. This Sunday's live music includes four local bands in what's billed as "The Local's Last Waltz", performing selected songs from the famous rock music movie, "The Last Waltz".

Commons Beach offers an exceptional view and plenty of space for all to be seen in the photograph.

"We hope to get as many people in the shot as possible," added Brandt. "The scene there is iconic Tahoe City, with Commons Beach and Lake Tahoe all in the shot."

Concerns about possible impacts of the smoke from the Yosemite "Rim Fire" do linger. Organizers are saying the show will go on, but advise individuals to make their own decisions about attending based on the weather and smoke on the day of the event. Last Sunday's concert went on without a hitch.
