Two days of explosive musical talent takes over The Village at Palisades Tahoe August 10-11, featuring headlining acts Academy Award nominated Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue on Saturday night, and the MarchFourth Marching Band on Sunday.

Festival goers can listen and dance to continuous live jazz and funk music on two stages while sampling beers from more than 40 breweries including Deschutes, Gordon Biersch, Lagunitas, Lost Coast, New Belgium, Sierra Nevada, and Tahoe Mountain Brewery. Beers are $4 each, limited to ages 21 and older. A $5 entry donation to the festival is also requested. All proceeds benefit the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe.

The festival is open to all ages and well-behaved dogs on leashes. Kids can enjoy additional activities such as Squaw’s new outdoor climbing wall, free croquet, bean bag toss and slacklines, as well as a 18-hole miniature golf course and mountaintop activities. 2 p.m. – Mojo Green
Mojo Green is a collective of individuals whose musical mission is to move the people on the dance floor with their horn-driven, Funkajazzadelic dance grooves. When it comes to Mark Sexton's music, it's all about the meaning of the soul. Every note from his jazz guitar screams passion, every lyric from the heart. Nigel Hall is an honest, humble guardian of soul music. When asked about himself, Nigel reflects, "I'm just someone who lives, eats, drinks music." This ethic becomes clear when Nigel takes the stage. A mainstay on the Portland, ME scene, Nigel has recently toured with the funk powerhouse Lettuce. His energetic vocals add yet another layer of sonic depth and energy to the all-star cast. Jelly Bread is a tour de force of full frontal funk, thoroughly steeped in a Rock-Americana style with a rollicking indie alt-rock radio appeal. Joseph “Zigaboo” Modeliste is a master drummer, rhythm innovator, percussionist, and New Orleans legend. The most highly acclaimed drummer ever to hail from the Crescent City, Ziggy’s creativity has been a wellspring of funk influence for three decades and inspired many Hip-Hop tracks. He is a master of creating funk grooves and new concepts for funk drumming. 6 p.m. – MarchFourth Marching Band (Headlining Act)
Aside from their marching band themed costumes, as well as the 5-piece percussion corps and 7-part brass section, M4 is far from a “marching band” in any traditional sense (though this group of about 20 has been known to parade down Main Street before taking the stage). M4 is anchored by funky electric bass and has been evolving into a more guitar- and vocal-driven musical experience. The show will take you on a journey from the swamps of Louisiana to the gypsy camps of eastern Europe to the African jungle by way of Brazil, echoing the deepest grooves of American funk, rock, and jazz then boiling it all together in cinematic fashion with high-stepping stilt-acrobatics and dazzling dancers. http://marchfourthmarchingband.com/
