BBQ Weekend Returns to Squaw Creek
Tahoe’s Resort at Squaw Creek's popular BBQ Weekend returns this weekend with cooking demonstrations, culinary and beverage tastings, and an elaborate gourmet barbeque that includes a spit-roasted pig.
Fresh, innovative cuisine and beverages galore await attendees, including menu items and cooking demonstrations geared towards children.
The weekend festivities kickoff on Friday, August 24 with an appetizer and cocktail reception on the Six Peaks Grille Deck. A number of items will be featured including mini pulled pork sliders with chipotle aioli, BBQ maple-rubbed bacon-wrapped shrimp, brazed beef tostadas with lime-cured cabbage and cumin seed crème, along with other gourmet treats.
On Saturday, August 25, a continental breakfast with mimosas and Bellinis will be served on the Six Peaks Deck from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. From noon to 2 p.m., Resort at Squaw Creek Executive Chef Jason Friendy will lead a BBQ sauce competition, with attendees forming teams to create prize-worthy sauces, which will be utilized during “The Pig is Big” evening BBQ. During the contest, children will have the opportunity to make fresh pizzas with Resort at Squaw Creek’s Chef Adrian Frutos. From 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., the MargaBall offers a friendly pool volleyball tournament and margaritas.
The signature event of the weekend takes place on Saturday evening, when the pig roast and chef’s-style gourmet BBQ takes place. The roasted pork will be served with the resort’s two-time award-winning BBQ sauce and the sauce-making competition creation. Leafy salads, Red Bliss potato salad, corn-on-the-cob, vegetarian baked beans, grilled hamburgers, bratwurst, chicken, Pacific swordfish with spicy mango salsa are among the choices. House-made ice cream and a rock candy fruit salad will be served for dessert.
Sunday morning wraps up with breakfast and a Bloody Mary bar on the Six Peaks Grille Deck.
