Alpine Meadows is now confirmed to open for skiing and riding, tomorrow, Friday, December 7. The Lake Tahoe resort has been actively making snow and has received more than 7 feet of natural snow since early November and plans to open five chairlifts for opening day.

Alpine Meadows Opens for the Season, Friday, December 7

[Alpine Meadows, Calif.] December 6, 2012 – Alpine Meadows is slated to open for skiing and riding on Friday, December 7. The Lake Tahoe resort has been actively making snow and has received more than 7 feet of natural snow since early November.

Skiers and riders can kick-off Alpine’s winter season December 7 by taking their first turns of on the slopes accessed by the Roundhouse Express, Summit Express, Alpine Bowl Chair and Kangaroo Chair (for racer team members only) scheduled to spin from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For beginners, Alpine will also be running the Meadow Chair and the Kids Camp Carpet (for lessons only). Alpine Meadows will also be hosting the North Lake Tahoe Learn to Ski and Snowboard Weekend on December 8 and 9, offering beginner lift tickets, rentals and lessons for just $30 for first time skiers and snowboarders.

Opening day also marks the last day in which skiers and riders can purchase a Squaw and Alpine season pass – the Tahoe Super Pass – before prices go up (after December 7). Starting at $429 for adults, the Tahoe Super Pass offers season-long access to 6,000 acres, 43 lifts and over 270 trails at Palisades Tahoe and Alpine Meadows. The Tahoe Super Pass is now better than ever, as Gold and Silver passholders now have access to Sierra-at-Tahoe, an added value dubbed the Tahoe Super Pass Plus. The resorts’ first-ever unrestricted college pass starts at just $389, prices guaranteed through December 17. Through Alpine's "Turn in Your Ticket" program, skiers and riders will be able to turn in their 2012-13 lift tickets on the day of purchase at guest services in the main lodge, and receive the full amount off of the purchase of a Tahoe Super Pass – providing season-long access to both Alpine Meadows and Palisades Tahoe

The 2012-13 winter season brings $24 million in improvements to Palisades Tahoe and Alpine Meadows, including three new chairlifts at Palisades Tahoe, Tahoe’s only mile-long terrain park at Alpine Meadows and vastly improved snowmaking systems at both resorts. The investments are part of year two of The Renaissance, a five-year and $70 million capital improvement plan to enhance every aspect of the guest experience at Palisades Tahoe and Alpine Meadows.
