Alpenglow Mountain Festival Celebrates Human-Powered Winter Sports

Tahoe City's Alpenglow Sports is holding the first winter edition of the Alpenglow Mountain Festival, a two-week festival running through March 2nd celebrating human-powered events, clinics, presentations, films and more.

Driven by fun, community, health, education and the embodiment of the mountain lifestyle, the festival has been designed to inspire participants to enjoy and explore North Lake Tahoe’s playground with friends and family. The festival highlights some of the best activities Lake Tahoe has to offer, including nordic skiing, backcountry skiing, snowshoeing and the region's natural history.

The Alpenglow Mountain Festival is geared toward beginner and intermediate winter recreation enthusiasts, offering a range of activities for all interests and ability levels. The majority of events are free and space is limited. Participants are encouraged to register online in advance to assure spots and for the chance to win great giveaways.

Festival highlights during week two:

  • Guided Ski Tours- Feb 20 - 22,
  • Avalanche Safety Skills Series - Continues February 19-21, presented by Alpenglow Expeditions.
  • Winter Film Series - February 20, 27
  • Nordic Ski Clinics, Demos and Events - Feb 23- March 2, leading up to The Great Race.
  • Natural History Snowshoe Tour- Feb. 23.
