U.S. Ski Team Day & Big Announcements at Squaw Valley

Palisades Tahoe and Alpine Meadows hosted their first U.S. Ski Team Day on April 7th, bringing together some of the world's top athletes for a day of fun and fundraising. The celebration expanded as Palisades Tahoe announced that it will host the 2013 and 2014 U.S. Nationals, and unveiled 'Tamara's Run' in honor of skiing legend Tamara McKinney. Tahoe TV was there to capture the excitement.

Nevada and California Leaders Unveil Joint Effort to Explore Bid for Olympic Winter Games in the Lake Tahoe Region

The Reno Tahoe Winter Games Coalition and California Winter Games Committee have announced the joining of forces and the creation of a cooperative Lake Tahoe Winter Games Exploratory Committee, a new joint California Nevada initiative, building on the existing efforts, dedicated to developing an Olympic Bid for the 2022 Winter Games.

Sugar Bowl Extends Season

Sugar Bowl announced Thursday the continuation of on-mountain and base-area operations on a daily basis through at least April 15th, with either daily or weekend (Friday - Sunday) operations continuing after that, April 16 – 29.

Disabled Sports Hosts Ability Celebration

Disabled Sports USA Far West hosted its annual Ability Celebration and the Wounded Warrior Sports Camp March 27 - April 1st, bringing the excitement of winter sports to a group of soldiers and marines wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. Top Travel Industry Conference Headed to North Lake Tahoe

For the second time in six years, North Lake Tahoe and Resort at Squaw Creek in Palisades Tahoe will host of the 2012 Mountain Travel Symposium, one of the world’s premier ski industry wholesale conferences, to be held April 15-21 at Resort at Squaw Creek. The conference offers opportunities for local merchants and businesses to learn about mountain travel industry trends and meet and do business with wholesalers, hospitality companies and more.

Tahoe Nuggets: 30 Years Ago - Alpine Meadows Avalanche

It’s been 30 years since one of the deadliest avalanches in Sierra Nevada history broke loose at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort and killed seven people. For those of us who remember this tragic event on March 31, 1982, and the days of grief and hope that followed, it represents a benchmark in time. The 15.5 feet of snow that fell at the Central Sierra Snow Lab between March 27 and April 8, 1982, still ranks as the greatest single snowstorm total on record for Donner Summit.

McShlonkey Tickles Squaw's Wild Side

The 2nd Annual Pain McShlonkey Classic delivered wild times and wackiness (a-la those in 'Hot Dog - The Movie') to Palisades Tahoe March 23-24th. Celebrating the life of legendary skier Shane McConkey, the event's antics and general unruliness were all for a good cause, raising funds for local school programs via the McConkey Foundation. Tahoe TV/SVTV was on hand to capture this exclusive highlight footage of the weekend's festivities.

Olympians Headline Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows U.S. Ski Team Day

Legends of American skiing, including Olympians Julia Mancuso, Jonny Moseley, Shannon Bahrke, Marco Sullivan, Tamara McKinney and many more, will hit the slopes at Palisades Tahoe on April 7 for the first Palisades Tahoe and Alpine Meadows U.S. Ski Team Day. Olympic champion Aksel Lund Svindal will also appear as a special guest.

Squaw & Alpine Announce 2012-13 Season Pass Pricing

Following recent announcements by other Lake Tahoe resorts, Palisades Tahoe and Alpine Meadows have announced the season pass pricing and packages for the 2012-13 season, as well as the continuation of the 'Rennaissance' with a variety of benefits and improvements at both resorts.
