Olympic gold medalist and local Tahoe/Palisades Tahoe athlete Julia Mancuso took full advantage of home snow Thursday to win the Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships giant slalom for a record 16th U.S. title. In Banzai, as in all sports, it all comes down to the finish. In the second occurrence of this year's extremely close finishes, Shannon Rahlves came from behind to pass Shelly Robertson within yards of the finish line and win the Women's Ski division at the Silver Belt Banzai.
