Every August, the streets of Virginia City, Reno and Sparks vibrate with the sound of muffled rumbles of rebuilt engines, rays of sunlight glinting off the polished chrome and heavy scents of Dapper Dan hair pomade fill the air. Droves of spectators line the sidewalks for a glimpse into the past, a time when a driver’s license and a hot car were all anyone needed or wanted on a Saturday night.
Join us for a trip down memory lane or a new adventure. Whichever way you look at it, this nostalgic event has it all.
Breathe and stretch with us this summer during our free outdoor yoga series with live music! Every Wednesday night from July 5 to August 30 we will offer free yoga classes under the sun in The Village at Squaw Valley, outside next to the Wanderlust yoga studio. The complimentary classes kick off at 5pm and are taught by a different (amazing) local teacher each week. New to yoga? All levels are welcome and complimentary prana yoga mats are available for your use!
Families and friends can snuggle up under the stars while enjoying new releases and family classics on the big screen in the Events Plaza at The Village at Squaw Valley. A different movie shows every summer Thursday starting July 7. All movies start at 8:30pm, weather permitting. Blankets and warm clothes are recommended.
From mid-June through August, Thursday night in Downtown Truckee is a special experience for people of all ages. Explore the vendor village that features local businesses, artisans and food along with live music from local favorites! Check out the free shuttle from Truckee neighborhoods and Squaw Valley.
This year’s 45th annual Concours will again be staged at the historic Obexer’s Boat Company in Homewood, CA., on Lake Tahoe’s beautiful West Shore with the two-day show open to the public on Friday, Aug. 11, and Saturday, Aug. 12.
Concours Judges from throughout the United States will have already begun their work using the Foundation’s own nationally-acclaimed 100 point judging system and score sheet. Their collective goal: to reward those who have restored their boats to the highest level of authenticity as they appeared when they were shipped from the factory. Because multiple first, second and third-place awards can be won in each class, each boat is judged on its own merit and only compared to other boats when selecting Perpetual awards.
The Exhibitors’ Barbecue and Awards Presentation on Friday evening, Aug. 11, is just one of the social events surrounding the Concours. A gala Opening Night Dinner and Dance kicks off Wooden Boat Week, with a Men’s Grill, Ladies’ Luncheon and Fashion Show, and Woodie Over-The-Bottom following. All events are open to the public. As a special thank you to Concours Personal and Corporate Sponsors, there are special offerings including a VIP Lounge and parking at the show, and by-invitation-only Sponsor Dinner.
The Tenth Annual Ta-Hoe Nalu Standup Paddle Festival, the longest-running paddle festival in the world, takes place in Kings Beach on Lake Tahoe's North Shore, August 11-13th, 2017.
This event is one-of-a-kind and has something for everyone - paddle enthusiasts, racers, spectators, curious beachgoers, and beyond.
Enjoyable artists and craftspeople creating and selling at the Round Hill Square shopping center...
