The event gives the public the opportunity to appreciate the beauty and the history of vintage wooden boats for three days, August 9-11. The stamps will give the world a continuing taste of Lake Tahoe and its historic boats.

Sponsored by the Tahoe Yacht Club Foundation, the Concours d'Elegance showcases expert craftsmanship in wooden boats and honors those who build, restore, and maintain the elegant, national treasures. These golden era, classic watercraft have beautiful lines and details.

The fictitious Stanley became flat when a steamroller flattened him accidentally. But being flat gives him the flexibility of sliding beneath doors and fitting easily into mailing envelopes. So he gets around the country by mail.

Maddy mailed Stanley to me so I could introduce him to Lake Tahoe. I did, took some pictures, and mailed Stanley back to her with his letter to her and the pictures.
